The unknown catalogue of composition “Addition to the Dictionary as-Surah min as-Sikah” by Jamal al-Qarshi has been found in Kasansay town of Namangan region (Uzbekistan). In the medieval historiography the work of al-Qarshi ranks separately as the only historical composition compiled on the territory of Chagatai Ulus in Mongolian period. In contains information on religious and cultural life in the Central Asia cities during the period of Mongolian rule.

“Al-Mulhaqat bi’s-surah” appears by its content as composition of rather different genres of encyclopedic character. There are presented historical-geographical data, information on Islam history, Quran studies, history of prophets and ruling dynasties of Maveraunnahr and Kashgar, autobiographic notes and author’s memoirs on his contemporaries of XIII-XIV centuries. There is also a short sketch on the Arabic grammar.
The book is intended for orientalists, students, lecturers and all having interest in the history of Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
