Young Scholars Union Activity
Young Scholars Council actively functions at the Institute; it represents young professionals in many fields of oriental studies. The members of the Council are engaged in research in various areas of oriental studies. Young professionals continuously improve their professional level through testing and confirmation of results of their scientific research at the annual conferences, symposia, round tables and public debates organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies.
The Council is not only actively engaged in preparation of conferences, round tables and other events held by the Institute, but also independently organizes annual republic-level conferences, seminars, lectures and meetings with leading domestic and foreign researchers.
The Council actively pursues research seminars which address topical issues of interest to young researchers. Young professionals of the Institute maintain cooperation with foreign counterparts in various fields of oriental studies. They have established scientific contacts with research centers of oriental studies and universities of the countries of near and far abroad.
Young Scholars Council at the Institute of Oriental Studies permanently interacts with institutes of higher education and research institutions in conducting various conferences, seminars, workshops, round tables and public discussions. In particular, for the traditional Yudinsky Readings (Conference of Young Scholars dedicated to the memory of the well-known orientalist V.P. Yudin), the Council invites researchers from various universities and research institutes, such as al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Turan University, Kazakh State Teacher Training University, Atyrau State University, S. Amanzholov East-Kazakhstan State University, S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Academy, Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named after M. Tynyshpayev, A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics, Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnography, A. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, etc.
On August 16-26, 2010 in Dushanbe, young scholars of the Institute of Oriental Studies have attended the Summer School for young orientalists from CIS countries “Orient: Global Challenges, Local Answers” organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences with support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member-states. During the School period, there were held three round tables, presented and discussed over 40 reports on politics, history, economics, religion, art, literature and manuscript tradition of the East peoples.
Majority of young scholars have scientific degrees that demonstrate high level of professional training of Institute’s scientific staff and prove the formation of powerful theoretical and practical base for further surveys in oriental studies.
